Do You Refrigerate Microgreens?
If you have a windowsill or garden where it is possible to grow a plant, you probably already know the answer to the question “Do you refrigerate microgreens?” If you are growing a plant from seed, you probably already know the answer to this question. However, if you are growing microgreens or you want to learn how you can get your plants to taste better than a bag of salad greens, you should be paying close attention to what you are placing on your windowsill or in your garden. It does not matter whether you are using a hydroponic system or not. When placing microgreens on your windowsill, you will need to follow some general guidelines when it comes to the placement and size of your tiny friends.
First off, remember that microgreens are fragile little things. They tend to fall off of the plant at times when they are getting close to being dry. While you are growing micro greens in a glass jar, try to get them as close to the end of the jar as possible without touching the bottom of the jar. You will also want to try to keep your plant from touching other plants or the ground near your container, unless you are growing them indoors. This is important because microgreens tend to rot very easily.
Microgreens are sold in various colors. These can range from dark purple to a lovely cream color. Choose one that best complements the rest of your garden. There are also different varieties of microgreens. Some varieties are known for growing faster and producing more leaf color than others.
When planting microgreens, you need to know about how much room they will need. A tip is to place two plants next to each other. Do not put more than four in a group, though, as that can cause your plants to be crowded out of their growing space. You should also know about the sun requirements of your microgreen plants before you plant them. Do not plant them where the sun is going to be shining directly on it, as this can stress your plant and make it susceptible to disease.
If you have a raised bed, be sure to carefully follow the directions in the planting kit about the amount of space needed and whether or not to plant roses, bushes, or grass. Make sure that you have plenty of drainage so that your new plant will have an adequate chance to grow to its full potential. It is important that you check your plant very closely to check for firmness. This is especially true if you planted them in a soil that is not very well drained. If you do notice any decay on your new plant, you can moisten the dirt around it a little to encourage healthy root growth.
When it comes to caring for growing microgreens, there are quite a few things that you can do to help keep them healthy. Microgreens don’t need to be sprayed regularly with any kind of fertilizer. The best thing to do is to let them go for a couple of weeks without any treatment at all. For any other kind of leafy green plants, you should fertilize them once a month with a good quality liquid fertilizer. You should never over-fertilize any kind of leafy green plant, however, as this can actually make it die back and turn the leaves yellow instead of green.
